BASTILLE’S HAUNT AVAILABLE TODAY ON iTUNES

“Pompeii” Is iTunes Single Of The Week

Four-Song Collection Introduces The U.K.’s Top-Selling Debut Act

Of 2013 To U.S. Audiences

Bastille Plays Sold Out Shows In San Francisco And L.A. In July

Bastille – the top-selling debut act of 2013 in the U.K. – makes its U.S. debut with the four-song EP Haunt, released today by Virgin Records. “Pompeii,” the collection’s first single, will impact Modern Rock radio early this summer. The track, which the band recently performed on U.K. television program “The Jonathan Ross Show,” is featured as this week’s free iTunes “Single of the Week.” Haunt can now be downloaded here: http://smarturl.it/Haunt.

The “Pompeii” video, lensed by Jesse John Jenkins (The Vaccines, Peace), already has more than 20 million views, and can be seen here: http://smarturl.it/BastillePompeii.

The band, which was recently featured in Billboard’s “Bubbling Under” column, will perform at a special Monday night Pop Scene in San Francisco on July 22 and at Los Angeles’ legendary Troubadour on July 23. Both shows are sold out. Bastille will return to the U.S. for a fall tour after its European festival dates, which include Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park and more. The band has opened for such artists as Two Door Cinema Club, Foster The People and Muse and its fall 2012 U.K. run sold out the day it went on sale. Bad Blood, Bastille’s full-length debut, recently entered the U.K. albums chart at No. 1.

Dan Smith, the creative force behind Bastille, is a storyteller at heart, whose compositions are heavily influenced by the work of such directors as Dario Argento, David Lynch and Terrence Malick and authors Ian McEwan, Hubert Selby, Jr. and Brett Easton Ellis. To complete Bastille’s lineup, Smith brought aboard friends Chris Wood, Will Farquarson and Kyle Simmons. After playing and touring together for more than two years, they exhibit an uncommon unity. While each has their main role in Bastille, they effortlessly trade places on vocals, keyboards and percussion, creating a musical tapestry interlaced with texture and experimentation.

Smith and Bastille really deliver,” said BBC Music. Overjoyed,” one of the songs included on Haunt, was tapped as “Track of the Day” by Q, which noted: “[Bastille’s] bewitching mixture of softly delivered vocals and glitchy tracks creates an impressive atmosphere.” Like the metaphysical cinema it is influenced by, the soundscapes of Bastille are ambitious in scope yet veiled with a distinct intimacy,” observed the Independent.
