DAVE MATTHEWS BAND KICKS OFF 2013 SUMMER TOUR TONIGHT AT THE CYNTHIA WOODS MITCHELL PAVILION IN THE WOODLANDS, TX

Dave Matthews Band will launch its 2013 summer tour with a trio of concerts in Texas, beginning with tonight’s show at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands – its 21st appearance at the venue. The group will perform at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas tomorrow, May 18, and play its first show at Austin’s Tower Amphitheatre on Tuesday, May 21. See below for a full itinerary.

The group is touring in support of its latest album, Away From The World, which Rolling Stone named as one of the Top 50 Albums of 2012. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, the record entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, making Dave Matthews Band the first group in chart history to have six consecutive studio albums debut atop the chart. This summer’s run will include two-night stands in Saratoga Springs, NY, Hartford, CT, Mansfield, MA, Noblesville, IN, Wantagh, NY, Camden, NJ, East Troy, WI, West Palm Beach, FL and Commerce City, CO plus Dave Matthews Band’s traditional Labor Day three-night stand at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA. Tickets are available now at http://davematthewsband.com/tour. Citi is the official credit card of the Dave Matthews Band Summer 2013 Tour.

AL.com praised Dave Matthews Band’s sold-out spring concert at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham, AL as “a gem, well deserving of a round of superlatives.” The group also played the 2013 New Orleans Jazz Fest. “Something happens when the rains fall at Jazz Fest…it becomes, for many, part of the experience,” observed The Times-Picayune. “Something to celebrate. Something to defy. And something to talk about for years to come, provided the band you’ve persevered to see rises to the occasion. Matthews and company did…The band delivered on the promise of ‘Ants Marching,’ pushing it even harder than the rain. When it finally ended, thunder cracked and lightning flashed as if on cue.”

There will be a food drive at each concert along the tour route. The effort is being spearheaded by The Bama Green Project – an on-going partnership between Dave Matthews Band and Reverb – which has made fighting hunger and supporting sustainable agriculture the focal points of its 2013 program. Concertgoers are invited to participate by donating food items at the REVERB collection point outside the main gates. For a list of food banks and the items most needed, please visit http://www.reverb.org/DMB2013/farmfood.html or BamaGreen.org. The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band recently awarded a $100,000 grant to the West, Texas Disaster Relief Efforts Fund, the official fund endorsed by the West City council as the preferred recipient of donations following the fertilizer plant explosion that took place on April 17, 2013 in West, Texas. For more information on the fund or to make a donation, visit www.wacofoundation.org.

Dave Matthews Band – comprising Carter Beauford (drums), Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar), Tim Reynolds (guitar), Rashawn Ross (trumpet) and Boyd Tinsley (violin) has sold a collective 37 million CDs and DVDs combined. The group ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade and has sold over 18 million tickets since its inception.
